‘Beyond the Break’ Season 1 review

“Beyond the Break” Season 1 (2006, The-N), episodes 1-7 – Traditional summer viewing comes from “Beyond the Break” (8:30 p.m. Fridays), which is filmed and set in Hawaii. That’s also the home of “Lost,” but there’s no danger of confusing the two shows. On “Beyond the Break,” it never rains. IT’s always hot, and that goes for both the weather and the female-driven cast.

It’s hard to argue with a small-screen “Blue Crush,” but this surf-and-sudser doesn’t go beyond the obvious. Troubled new girl Lacey (Natalie Ramsey) is a raw talent trying to mesh with Wave Sync’s specimens of perfection – Dawn, Birdie and Kai. But it’s just a half-hour show, so it goes down easy in small doses, like a spoonful of sugar. C+
