‘Space Cowboys’ review

“Space Cowboys” — In an interesting change of pace, four old guys – Clint Eastwood (who also directed), Tommy Lee Jones, Donald Sutherland and James Garner – get a chance to shine in a summer movie. The first half, which chronicles the re-teaming of the world’s best Air Force test pilots from 40 years ago and their training for a satellite-repair mission, showcases the actors’ charms and a steady supply of old-aged jokes. But when the group heads into space, we have to endure one of the most suspenseless world-in-peril sequences ever filmed. Watch the first hour, then leave and make up your own ending – it’ll be more entertaining. C-
