“Bowfinger” – Written by and starring Steve Martin, this is the story of a small-time producer desperate to make a movie. After action star Kit Ramsey (Eddie Murphy) turns down the leading role, Bowfinger finds a lookalike named Jiff (also Murphy). “Bowfinger” comments on the difficulties and absurdities of breaking into show business while delivering only a few laughs (all of which were in the preview). Muprhy is amusing as Jiff, but the character doesn’t appear until roughly an hour into the film. C-
