‘The Death Cure’ gives ‘Maze Runner’ trilogy a grand finale, makes saga worth revisiting (Movie review)

I almost don’t feel like it is fair for me to review “Maze Runner: The Death Cure” right now. It’s been so long since I saw the first two “Maze Runner” movies that I can’t remember a single thing about them. I didn’t remember liking “The Scorch Trails” much at all, so I went into this movie with low expectations. For the first hour I was bored, playing on my phone, searching the web, etc., while the movie goes through the motions of setting up the finale. It’s forgettable.

Then, the last 45 minutes of the movie (and the trilogy) comes in … and wow, it caught my attention. Not only does the story get good, but the action scenes are epic! After the movie ended, I wanted more. Which leaves me to say …

I want to go back and watch the whole series again and come back to update this review. I think this could possibly be a 4.5 if I had an understanding of what was going on at the beginning.

So overall, if you are a fan of the series I think you’ll enjoy “The Death Cure” a lot. If not, make sure you watch the first two “Maze Runner” movies and refresh yourself on what is happening.
