5 random things I noticed (Commentary)

1. I notice there has been a lot of anti-Shia LaBeouf sentiment lately. Geez. What did he ever do to you?

2. I notice that when I’m watching a scene of someone driving down a street, and then the camera switches to a side view of the driver looking out the window, nine times out of 10 that car is going to be nailed by a large truck. Especially if there’s a bright light and a loud horn beforehand. And if no accident happens, I’m a bit twitchy as I try to focus on the next scene.

3. I notice there are an inordinate number of contemporary films with talking animals in them.

4. I notice that in old science fiction books, the authors predicted we’d have robots and flying cars in the early 21st century; both are decades away from becoming commonplace. Yet they didn’t foresee the cell phone, the Internet or digital media. They imagined people of the future would be reading newspapers (delivered to their door by a robot) and calling each other on video phones (but they’d have to go to a public booth).

5. I notice that in the 1990 motion picture “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” Raphael is ticked off after losing a sai. I find it odd that Raph didn’t have a backup pair of sais lying around somewhere. They don’t take up as much space as katana swords or bo staffs, and they are more durable than nunchakus. Maybe Mikey blew the backup weapons fund on a side order of breadsticks.
